Debugging CVMFS Processes in D-State

This project proposes to build diagnostic tooling for extracting debugging information from CVMFS processes stuck in uninterruptible sleep (D-state), where standard tools like gdb, gcore, and ptrace fail due to their dependence on signal delivery. The implementation will include a core dump constructor that reads process state directly from /proc interfaces to produce GDB loadable ELF core files, a diagnostic snapshot wrapper that captures core dumps alongside system and CVMFS specific context in a single command, and a debugging cheat sheet for site administrators.
