Eclipse ThreadX Getting Started: A Modern Board Enablement Framework
Eclipse ThreadX powers billions of devices, yet its developer onboarding experience is hindered by legacy Azure IoT dependencies and limited board support (currently only the MXChip AZ3166). This proposal aims to solve this by creating a modern board enablement framework that extends the existing IoT DevKit architecture to support three distinct evaluation boards: two from STMicroelectronics and one RISC-V target. The project will deliver complete Board Support Packages (BSPs) featuring use-case-driven demo applications that exercise real RTOS primitives, alongside comprehensive documentation, CMake build infrastructure, and Renode virtual hardware emulation scripts to allow community contributions without physical hardware.
