System Tests Improvements for preCICE
This project aims to improve the system testing framework of preCICE to make end-to-end simulations faster, more reliable, and easier to extend. Currently, system tests involve building multiple combinations of tutorials, adapters, and core versions using Docker, executing coupled simulations, and validating outputs against reference data. The project will focus on optimizing test execution time through parallelization and caching strategies, improving result validation and reporting for better debugging, and enhancing the modularity of test configurations to simplify adding new scenarios. Additionally, improvements in CI integration will ensure more robust and automated testing workflows. The expected deliverables include a redesigned and optimized system testing pipeline, improved reporting mechanisms, reduced execution time, and comprehensive documentation for contributors. These enhancements will strengthen the reliability and scalability of preCICE’s testing infrastructure.
